It's not that people don't want to do it, it's mostly skipped cause there is no reward and many believe that there should be one for the trouble. Personally I don't care whether or not I skip it, it's just up to what the rest of the group wants to do and I just follow. Is it difficult? Depends on your teammates. Is it time consuming? If you let it be. Should there be rewards for it? Perhaps, I'm on the fence about this one. It would have to be shards or energy. Having regular raid drops might be a bit much.

Three minutes is not worth a reward. They need to suck it up and play the game. This no child left behind generation is ridiculous bunch of worthless crybabies with their hands out looking for free stuff

Gorgon Maze takes how long? It has 2 chests. This is clearly a segment of the raid and it stands to reason that each segment should provide a reward, throw in rng and that's doubly so. I personally skip the part because it's not worth my 3 minutes.

You can assume I'm a bad player all you want, you're ignorant assumptions based on how I choose to waste my time in this game have no bearing on me. The fact you're on here being a "righteous defender" for the most pointless part of either raid is saying more about you the it does about me. Also to save the most time, I do crota first, then run up to second chest, raid is done. I raid for the loot. If I want to kill pointless shit I have many other options, but those options also allow me to farm glimmer. So you enjoy callin everyone that skips this a bad player and you enjoy your high ass horse.
