It’s common knowledge you can purchase new ships and upgrade them over time. Hopefully the next step would be the ability pilot your ship. And better yet, how cool would it be to fight in Space?! It might be asking too much for the first release but it would be truly epic if Bungie added Space Battles to Destiny.
