I just logged off Destiny to come here and post this very thread. The patch notes made no mention of removing the ability to sell materials, so I was originally very excited for the update. But when I discovered that it had been removed, I was very disappointed. I had only just discovered that you could sell materials for crucible marks, removing the need to play crucible when I didn't want to, but now I have no choice but to go back to PvP for marks. I want to buy my FWC gear, but I can't without being forced to play crucible. Why? I stick mostly to PvE and don't enjoy the crucible that much. Bungie, let me play the game the way I want to!
