I just logged off Destiny to come here and post this very thread. The patch notes made no mention of removing the ability to sell materials, so I was originally very excited for the update. But when I discovered that it had been removed, I was very disappointed. I had only just discovered that you could sell materials for crucible marks, removing the need to play crucible when I didn't want to, but now I have no choice but to go back to PvP for marks.
I want to buy my FWC gear, but I can't without being forced to play crucible. Why? I stick mostly to PvE and don't enjoy the crucible that much. Bungie, let me play the game the way I want to!

U can still get the gear in the mail when u level your faction rank... And its usually better than the stuff for sale.

True, but I can't pick and choose, and before the materials update, it seemed to take a lot longer, although that could be because I wasn't focusing on farming rep.

I did also post that I agree they should have both options now. I also have 400 spinmetal sitting around that I was going to trade in some week that I couldn't play enough to max my crucible marks. Now I can't do that and it irritates me as well. Here is hoping they bring it back.

It's a shame I had just told one of my friends to exchange his metal for marks since he was having problems gaining enough for a legendary weapon and he ended up spending the marks instead of gaining them. This shouldn't have happened and should have been highly published or explained in-game. It looked just like before except for the 20 instead of 50 and that they were all active. So many had to learn the hard way. Terrible game development. And faction rank or events haven't been giving me anything lately at the postmaster. The postmaster has become another useless character like the whole north tower.
