Interstellar (SPOILERS)

Oh my God. That was simultaneously the best and worst movie I've ever seen in my life. The visuals were fantastic. The emotion was palpable throughout. Matthew McConaughey gave the performance of his career. Everything was so perfect... Until that awful goddamn ending. Oh my God.

Love stretches across time and gravity and shit. Fuckin black holes and inter dimensional beings. Rural America was the only place worth saving on our space ark.
Honestly, I found it really odd that they actually went down to Miller's planet. I wouldn't want to go anywhere near a planet that close to a black hole. Obviously, the gravitational pull of the black hole would have a profound effect on anything on the surface. The 2km tall tsunamis weren't surprising at all. Plus, shouldn't the planet be bombarded by a ridiculous amount of radiation? It's just a bad plan all round.
Fictionally speaking it all made sense based on relative physics. I agree though. the end had me running f*ckery through my head for a day after I finished watching it. How the -blam!- did he end up where he was.

    • It was enjoyable but the 'love surpasses time and space' thing just pissed me off. It's such a sentimental cop-out in the face of otherwise hard scifi and an enjoyable take on theoretical physics.

Just watched it last night Amazing No surprises from Christopher Nolan (the dark knight, memento, the prestige, inception, etc)

    • The first time Michael Caine (aka My Cocaine) recited the "Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night" speech, it was powerful and resonant. By the third or fourth time he did it, I was literally cringing.

The only issue I had with the movie was Hans Zimmer's music being a little too loud and repetitive. It was actually overbearing. I liked the ending. The entire film is weaved into that ending so how can you say it was perfect until that point? Did you think aliens were orchestrating everything? If so, they would still need the same abilities to have sent the messages. I think the explanation of future generations of evolution manipulating time through extra dimensions may be possible. I am not a science buff (honestly on the ignorant side of a common man), but my brother is a scientist and my father is deep into both real and science fiction. They both liked it, too. I did not even like the Dark Knight movies. I thought Inception was okay, but I couldn't relate to it that much because I don't have lucid dreams. I liked Interstellar. This is my favorite Nolan movie that I have seen. The only question I would have is how it started? If he seeded the future for human evolution and then they sent him back it creates a loop that you just sort of have to accept just started from nothing. It did not ruin the ending for me though.

      • Strangely enough, the ending didn't bother me all too much. I've been reading up on the science behind it, and it seemed pretty interesting.
