First time for me
So I just finished the Daily heroic on level 28 and received nothing. Apparently I never did it. Does this happen often?

Wow, never happened to me. I know it happened with a friend of mine though. He joined my fireteam when the reset happened at 10am, but hadn't logged out first. After he logged out and back in he did it and it worked without a problem. Don't know if this will help you with your problem, but I rather do this then having the experience you just had.
