I would assume its comparable to the profits that Bungie had to give up by not allowing Microsoft to advertise Destiny on Xbox.

This whole exclusion deal is horrific, not only for consumers, but for company profit. I don't understand the logic behind this. Yeah, Sony gets some special hype for Destiny on their platform, but wouldn't this be considered more harmful than helpful?

I don't agree. First, gamers are just like any other consumer. Nobody needs to make a product just because there is a consumer that would buy it, and it would be entirely reasonable for Destiny to be offered only on one platform. To say otherwise is to say that Bungie MUST develop everything for everyone, so what about the poor Wii U players. Xbox got a game - thats a positive - Halo has never made it to the PS4 because of Microsoft licensing - is that bad for gamers too? Activision has an obligation to its shareholders, and I am absolutely positive they are doing exactly what they think will maximize their profits. If you really want to protest against stuff like this, its simple. Don't buy the DLC - because its not good enough for the price being asked.
