I'm an xbox player and while I think the year exclusivity is pretty lame, none of this is/was a surprise to me. It was pretty clearly communicated what was/wasn't going to be in Base and DLC per platform. Even knowing that, I still bought a Xbox, because it's what I wanted based on factors important to me. It's a shame that the content exists and by the time that it releases for Xbox it will be irrelevant in the game so most will never experience it, but Bungie and Sony made a deal and it won't be changing. Now they COULD release free 'updates' to strikes quarterly or semi-annually to reconfigure them a bit to keep things a bit more fresh, that could go for both platforms and would be nice to see.
