I've been using thorn with the gauntlets and can't even imagine how slow the reload would be without them. I feel like I'm watching paint dry whenever I reload that thing. "Put the cylinder in...come on, come on!!"

They don't do much on their own, but if the gauntlets are combined with the voidwalker's energy drain ability that increases rate of reload, the two stack together to make it extremely fast compared to standard. Energy drain doesn't last long unfortunately, but it's great while it does!

Yes. If you have the right upgrades equipped then meleeing an enemy when your melee ability is fully charged as a Voidwalker will increase reload speed further for a short time.
