The lack of matchmaking, trading and other basic features exist to slow people down because Destiny is just a small piece of a game. I don't mean the beginning of some saga, I mean literally a fraction of an actual game. Gotta remember, Bungie pretty much cashed in their reputation with Destiny so don't hold your breath.
