My idea was that you can only trade and item for the same item rarity. Such as an exotic for exotic and NOTHING else. So..
Common for common
Uncommon for uncommon
Rare for rare
Legendary for legendary
Exotic for exotic.
It make it a lot more balanced and I think this would work.

Yup. Going further you could require same category as well as rarity. My real question is if they weren't to allow trading, why is the dismantling process so effing lame? Why cant i exchange rares i don't need for rare engrams + glimmer/material for a second shot? Why cant i craft items using lesser engrams and weapon parts? Why why why? Its a very limited system.
