At the ages from birth to about 2 I say keep them fed, clean, and sleep as much as possible. When they are awake stare them in the eyes and smile for 2 minutes solid each day. After that it's all based on you. Remember how you were as a kid it helps you keep them from making the same mistakes you did but also from coming down to hard on them when they do anyway.
