Proximity chat would definitely be helpful. It was difficult to coordinate in PVP without some sort of team chat. And the tower was nearly as silent as a tomb except for when announcers muttered something in the background. Not having chat definitely made it feel less like a living world. Sure proximity chat could get overbearing and obnoxious if you've got a ton of people talking, but that's why having the option to turn it off whenever you want would be great too. I can listen and talk with others when I want, and I can make it as quiet as a graveyard whenever I want as well.
