There is no mention of semi-automatic pistols in Destiny (FYI the word pistol infers it is fed by something other than a revolving chamber). I think if they tuned pistols to serve as build for quickness or stealth, then it could be an acceptable primary weapon. They could even have some hearkening back to the old Halo 1 pistol to give it a slightly more powerful edge necessary for something like multiplayer.
