Internet Arguments Thread: Emoticons
If you're arguing with someone and they begin using emoticons, "lol"s, and anything else that fits in with the texting scene of expressing something, do you think that that's a sign(on the internet and during conversations or arguments of course) that someone has been made unbelievably upset and is playing it off that they are not, or is just trying to be as flamboyant and "happy-go-lucky" as they can be to prove the point that they are not upset.

13 Rispostei hope not, otherwise that would mean [spoiler]joking aside it really has no place in a formal debate. i'm all for removing pretension (indeed, i hate it when people [i]don't[/i] remove pretension in an attempt to sound "FORTYSEVENDEEPNINETYNINEYOU"), but adding stuff for the sake of informality is just as "ugh" worthy.[/spoiler]
