Why do Americans still use the British measurement system?
Not even the British still use the Imperial system, so what gives?
Do I sense some level of nostalgia for those old days before broke the bonds and set out on your own, America? They say everyone goes through it, when the stress of life puts too on much pressure and you just wish you could curl up into the warm bosom of your caretaker, who will simply tell you everything will be alright. You may not miss the rules and discipline, but I understand you. How you coped initially by stealing from and bullying your weaker neighbors, and then going on to surpass your parent in every conceivable way. Now that you are going through a rough patch, I can see it, how much you miss being the sub- in the relationship. How you miss the warm, solid feeling of higher authority inside of you, without a care in the world.
Now matter how much you beg, the Crown is way over you, America, or rather way below you. Either way they've moved on, but I'm here for you America, and I always will be. No matter how much you reject me, ban my forced advances, pretend not to even see me, I will never leave you, for I love you!
(Seriously, why the -blam!- do we not use the metric system?)
