Bring back the Carpet Ban

These kids have it so easy these days, talking like a bunch of jerks, without a worry in the world. The fear needs to be put back in to OffTopic. I hate when I come to this website and 95% of the front page is taken up by OffTopic threads. It's not fair, and other forums should be on the front page more. The amount of trolls has become unbearable. With everyone having at least 16 alternate accounts, you can see that the mute feature has had no effect at all, is terrible, and the webteam should feel bad. The overwhelming volume of flames and spam needs to be contained. Carpet bans and nuked threads are the cure. If you haven't figured out this is completely sarcastic yet, take a lap.

  • Our revised toolset as well as the directions/marching orders from our management do not allow for or permit that form of widespread and indiscriminate banning. As I remember, back when that was an option on the table, whenever it was used, the outcry and bitching over "unfairness, inconsistency, bias and arbitrary nature" of carpet bans was deafening. Mostly "but I was telling them to stop!" or "I only posted report and move on"...... People complained, were heard, were listened to, and changes were made in response to the complaints. Which leaves us where we are.
