Frames per Second

I was wondering if some tech-savvy user could help me out. I have a couple of questions about the FPS (or Frames per Second) on Consoles, specifically the 360 and One. So, Call of Duty runs a solid 60 FPS, right? That's why it's so smooth. But if I were to go play, say, Crysis 2 on my 360, it would feel weird and unresponsive, correct? If so, is 60 FPS the highest FPS we've achieved? Is there a 90 FPS? Thanks :)

You can reach up too thousands of frames per second but you have to have a tv rate with refresh rate capable of displaying it. Most tv's are 60hz which means it can display 60fps essentially then there are 120hz which moves up to 120fps essentially then their is 240hz. You also have to have a machine capable of rendering that many frames. The xbox 360 and xbox one will NEVER EVER produce more than 60fps on current titles I can guarantee it. Also the human eye can only see about 63-68 frames on average so there is no real point to going higher. If you turn the lights in your room on and off 60 times each second the light is going to look like it is permanently on and not flashing even though it is, but your eyes cant keep up with it. Edit: Actually I was wrong the human eye can vary greatly on the frames it can see from 33-65.
