Either the government, or a government chartered company administers healthcare payments for everyone. It would be payed into through taxes, and there would be a co-pay and deductible set for everyone, based on their health.

Is that how its run? While I admire how well it takes care of so many, I embarrassingly know very little about it.

Everyone pays taxes and then everyone gets 'free' service. That's as far as my knowledge of my own health system extends, really. I have experience with it - not a good one - but I certainly prefer it over the US system.
