However yes, most people don't go up to someone in public and say such comments because of the consequences that follow. How many friends do you think a person would have by doing these sorts of things? Not many. So why can't we have such consequences online? Why can't we stand up for the person they're bulling and say "Hey! You're being a jerk!". It may not seem like they'll care as much because of the anonymity, but I can ensure you, people that are insecure enough to insult others to make them feel good, WILL care.
