I got my 360 elite in 2007 and it only failed the day Mass Effect 2 came out (Crashed during gameplay) and due to the error being an E74 error I had it fixed for free and no problems since. So in all I have had the 1st 360 I ever owned.

  • My first Red Ringed after a couple of years of faithful service (2006-2008). I then upgraded to the 360 Elite, which I played the hell out of (mostly matchmaking and otherwise campaigning) as I fully jumped in on Xbox LIVE (had it about 2 months before first Box RR'd). It Red Ringed around the time the Kinect came out (I swear by this: updating it to compatibility with Kinect killed it), but I fixed it myself, taking it apart and applying new parts from some fix I found online. It held off for about a year after that, then Red Ringed again with e74. After a while of tinkering with it, I put it back together with original parts and got it fixed at a local shop. That held on for about 6 months, crapped out again when my siblings put the Kinect in it (AGAIN!), fixed it again there at a discount, lasted a little while, then died within the warranty period of that repair. Consequently, I was two states away from the repair shop all summer. I finally pulled the plug on my longtime companion in the summer of 2012 (4 years). Kept the HD, got a Slim for Christmas (the cheap one without an HD), put the old drive in and it's worked well since (haven't played a ton lately though). 3rd box. Though I did try to save one about 5 times.
