Vanguard class confirmed???
Bungie's marketplace is not full of new goodies, not the least of which is are T-shirts for each class. There is are beautiful adornments for Titans, Warlocks, Hunters, and..... Vanguards. Considering they are all matching in basic layout, I think we finally have confirmation that Vanguards will be a playable class in Destiny!

Vanguard is for the PvE side of the game. You earn Vanguard reputation & marks much like you do for crucible, by completing Vanguard bounties & free roam missions. Its not a class but a sort of "factition" for the PvE players to earn reputation and Vanguard marks to buy Vanguard weapons and armor. Once again its NOT a class but a "group/factition" within the last safe city. The class mentors are Vanguards that sell you Vanguard armor and the Vanguard vendor (robot) sells weapons and exchanges spinmetal and other materials for rep and marks. (Plus glimmer)

Vanguard is just a title given to select guardians. The three class specific vendors in the tower are called vanguard by the NPCs there.

2 RisposteVanguard are the leaders of the Guardians at the Tower. There is the Vanguard Titan, Vanguard Warlock and Vanguard Hunter. They deal in basic gear for each class as well, at least in the beta, showing off high level gear for each class.

8 RisposteWell if we sit and think for a moment, we can see that this probably isn't true. Remember how Bungie was setting this originally in a more "Fantasy" setting then a Sci-Fi Setting? Well if we take that nugget of truth and think about the word Vanguard for a moment. Vanguard comes from the medieval formations within their armies. They were made up of the Van the Mid and the Rear. The Van or Vanguard was the front or first part of the marching order. In most "fantasy'" books i've read this held your most powerful and trusted and best warriors. In real life this had trumpeters (To proclaim the coming army), engineers or workmen (to clear a path for the baggage and siege weaponry.) and people to accept and summon any town or castle's surrender. So, armed with this knowledge, I would say the Vanguards are probably not a class but a group within the Guardians as others have expressed here. It also doesn't make much sense within the constructs of the classes already present. Titan - Badass soldier Hunter - Badass scout Warlock - Badass commander

4 RisposteOn the Frontier pages for Mars and Venus it says "Awaiting reports from the Vanguard." Now I don't think it'd make any sense to send just one class to go scout out these planets, but rather they'd send a specialized "group" of guardians. What I'm saying is I don't think the Vanguard is a class like the Titan, Warlock or Hunter, but rather something more like a faction or specialized branch of the military, designed for early exploration and gathering intel. Also, with such a strong tri-class system that's already been perfected in many other games (Titan=Knight, Hunter=Rouge, Warlock=Mage), there seems to be little room for a fourth class without it steeping on another class's toes. But the t-shirts [i]are[/i] pretty awesome!

3 RisposteWho knows, Vanguard could be a 4th class. They could be a support/healer type seeing as how we have the other Main Archetypes: Titan/Fighter, Hunter/Rogue and Warlock/Magician. The only remaining Archetype is the Support/Healer role. The Vanguard could even be a specialized Class, such as how the Paladin in other games is a mixture of the Fighter and Healer classes, the Vanguard could be a mixture of 2 or more of the classes already revealed by Bungie. Who's to say there aren't 2 or more classes waiting to be revealed at E3? We've barely been given a tiny glimpse of what Destiny entails, so there's a lot we don't know so almost anything is possible.

2 RisposteHow great would it be if you could earn Vanguard status after a crazy variety of tasks with similar difficulty to the ViDoc challenges in Halo 3? Bungie could make a mixture of "achievements" from the main story, coop, multiplayer, etc to reach this status. They could mix in other things as well like B.net activity or k/d spread even to make sure it is the truly elite that are granted access.

Vanguard is not a class for the last time people. Bungie themselves said Destiny will have 3 classes. So unless you think they lied.

I think Vanguard is the class for bungie employees. But who knows, anything is possible.

I have a feeling that you will have to purchase an ultimate edition type thing to get that class. Kinda like the Fotus armor in halo 4 where you had to buy the console along with controllers just to get the set of armor.

Don't know. Maybe You have to start as one of the known classes and later You can become a member of the Vanguard and be able to get unique and master crafted gear. Or the Vanguard is a NPC faction, that protects the Last Cites government/ senate.

I'm suspecting that the Vanguards are a elite/higher level of Guardian. I believe Vanguard is not a class but rather, a status or level. For example. Vanguard Warlock, Vanguard Titan and Vanguard Hunter.

Also, the FOTC shirts say Vanguard on the back. Vanguard is definitely a mystery.

7 RisposteVanguard Players are supposedly "Elite". It's a distinction outside of classes. I remember an article mentioning Jason Jones having a Vanguard symbol on his Titan's armor. Could be wrong though. From what it sounds like these will be people who get early access to "scout" areas in the Destiny Universe. The best of the best.
