Fire Modes
That enemy you want to kill too far away to hit accurately with your fully automatic weapon?

changing the firing mode could also be a simple switch between the type of ammunition, by separate barrels ie: have a sniper with two barrels, one that fires high velocity sniper rounds and another that fires tracking beacons press a button and the barrels make a 180 degree turn
