4 RisposteI thought Ammonium nitrate by it's self is inert, right? It takes an oxidizer to become an active explosive. Depending on what you mix it with you get different types of explosive. Amomonium Nitrate mixed with aluminum powder gets you an explosive that reacts with impact, AKA Tannerite. Mixxing it with Diesel fuel gets you ANFO which is a high explosive. Does anyone know the chemistry of Ammonium nitrate exploding in a fire? I always thought it had to be mixed to be explosive.
