Why do you think people crave attention...
...in ways which will obviously result in people disliking that person? Wouldn't it be better and easier to pander to public opinion so as to be well-liked and popular at the same time? Popularity and being well-liked always has better perks than infamy and the general animosity of society.
I figured this an appropriate question to ask in light of recent.... events? If you can call them that.
Thoughts?

Some people are just naturally wired to be attention whores. Some people feel the need to be noticed to cover for the attention the lacked at home or in social circles. With the internet being relatively a shield of anonymity it can bring those who normally would never have been disorderly before into a whole new mindset of anything goes, despite the fact not everyone sees other users as face icons. Overall though people I see them as sad individuals screaming for attention. Even negative attention is still attention. Just like spoiled, unruly children do.

They want to be acknowldged, they want to be loved because they feel left out. A lot like SecondClass.

No one likes feeling invisible or left out, most of the time 'attention seekers' are like this because they either feel lonely, left out or un-cared for. So they seek attention so that they feel better. Just my opinion, not fact.

People don't care. They just want to be acknowledged. Everybody wants to be special and stand out, but IMO doing so by ways which most others do, makes them blend in (by getting involved in drama for example).

Because they don't think of the long-term effects, they think of the short-term ones. That momentary instance of admiration from others is more valuable to the feeble-minded than sincerity and honesty that will benefit them significantly more in the future.

If you're talking about people on Facebook, those people simply are too dumb or ignorant to know they even are attention whores. "Lik my status if u guise feel srry for this dead fetus!"

because it's a more faster and efficent way of the sole purpose for attention. People who are well... assholes to other persons don't have/ or lost their will to pander public opinions because they either had a bad experience in their past or they are just ignorant assholes.
