Destiny - MMORPGFPS
With all these rumors of mass customization, concept art of what seems to be a market of some kind, upgrade-able gear and armor, and and the given class system, I think it's much more accurate to categorize (in the most layman of layman's terms to the point of incredible obtuseness) Destiny as a "first person WoW in space with Guns" rather than what lots of people have been calling it: "herp derp planetside 2 ripoff!".
What're your thoughts? How would you categorize Destiny Genre-wise? Be as specific as you want and feel free to make up as many sub-categories or words as you want.

2 RisposteFirst off Destiny is more talk than fact so its hard to say how their proposed ideas will turn out. That being said assuming everything we have heard turns out more or less identical to the ideas they are proposing It would be a pretty perfect fusion between shooters and rpgs. It borrows enough from each genre to seem like it belongs there but has enough foreign elements to not really fit in comfortably with any other games in that genre. Simply put I think at this point there really isn't a good model to compare this to. TL;DR: Destiny will be in the Destiny genre.

Like what Bungie said you can't fit it in any genre. It does seem to include a lot of RPG elements though. I can see why that Bungie employee said that it was meant to be a joke, since it isn't [i]technically[/i] an MMO yet can be called one.
