Have you ever been/selected as a Juror?
I received a jury summons in the mail today, for the first time. Surprising, as I've only been a legal adult (in the States) for a year.
States that my service is for one trial, although supposedly they can go on for a while. Dunno the probability of actually being selected. I'm assuming that being #175 means there are at least 174 others in the raffle, and probably a lot more.
Anyway, now I'm really curious about the subject so I thought I'd ask my anonymous internet acquaintances.

If you make it to the jury selection stage of a jury duty summons and don't want to do it, simply state that you think the person accused is guilty because the judicial system is infallible. Your be dismiss shortly there after. In Michigan the system keeps you on retainer for two weeks where they can keep having you show up and repeat the process. If this is the case in your state simply repeat the first sentence until your time is done...]

Never have been selected, but I have gotten many summons.

I've been summoned several times, picked twice. One was a criminal case, the other was a civil case. Hopefully you will get a civil case, as they usually only last a day or two or they settle out. Criminal cases can sometimes last a week or more.

I've been called in, but the only trial at that courthouse had a change of venue, so nobody actually had to stay.

Twice was call for Jury Duty. First time, some drunk guy got a ticket. They asked me if I drink, I said a little bit but not enough to get drunk. And they asked if i was ever effected by drunk driver. I said no, but a cousin of mine dies in an accident. Didn't really know him. I got kicked out :D 2nd time, i called and didnt have to go. havnt been summoned fir a while. well, that i know of.

Yes, served on a 3 day case. We were able to have a verdict in two. Very cut and dry and one more scumbag into the local prison. Though it was a somewhat comical event. Dude walked into a Rite-aid for the second time that day, walked over to the pharmacy, and grabbed 6 bottles of male enhancement pills and stuffed them in his pants. He then made his way out of the store where Loss Prevention stopped him. Dude was on Video, he was stopped by Loss Prevention, and interviewed by a San Bernardino County Sheriffs deputy. I think even his attorney knew he was boned.

11 RisposteYes I have. If you want out you have to answer the peremptory challenges the right way. These are a set of questions the attorneys will ask to see if your judgement will be influenced in a way to compromise your impartiality on the trial. Whatever they ask you, tell a story how that effected your life. Do not lie about what you have been through. Don't say your mother died at the hands of a crack fiend unless she really did. But, you can read about crack heads and be scared of them based on what you read. The idea is to show you are incapable of being impartial on the subject at hand.

I got a letter stating that I'm eligible to be called for jury duty, but I've never been called.
