NOT A DESTINY 2 TOPIC just a reaction to Marathon

Is it bad I’m not hyped for Bungie’s extraction shooter cash out? The game does not look fun it is genuinely giving early D1 vibes where everyone thought to themselves is this it? It’s kinda sad they are focusing on Marathon instead of D2 or a possible D3 and really supporting the audience they have built in the last getting close to two decades. But wanting to keep up with the trends and making a mid game but with a in game shop that will make them more money is the focus. I genuinely want more of a focus to D2 or a D3. The community is hurting right now and the majority of it does not care about a cash out of another extraction shooter. This is of course just my personal opinion and experience with Bungie and Destiny as someone who has been playing since they were 12 and is now 23. I would love to have a better discussion about it and see what the community as a whole is feeling. I am personally on the boat that the game should go back to the Forsaken era where the game as a whole felt amazing and where Bungie was backed into a corner to make another amazing experience. The game as a whole felt more complete and it felt more coherent where the campaign was good PVP was much more fun and had more consistent updates, Gambit while having its metas was a fun side game mode to play. And the seasonal content felt good to interact with and the peak being season of Opulence. I want to feel like I have something to chase again in any game mode feel like the content I play actually matters and makes me want to grind the activity for the Godrolls. We all know currently that D2 isn’t in the best spot right now but I do think if Bungie actually listens to community outcry they could make the game great again. I am just putting into the either and would love to have a civil dialogue about what we as the community are feeling especially after what felt like a in my opinion lackluster Vidoc. • I lost all interest in marathon when I found out its an extraction shooter. I don't like that kind of game or pvp in general.

From what I understand, Marathon started as a side project from some of the people in Bungie who wanted to make something that they’d have fun playing. While I’m not excited about it being an extraction shooter, Marathon is a cool universe. The open alpha was fun, too.

        •
it is genuinely giving early D1 vibes where everyone thought to themselves is this it?
Realest thing I’ve read on the forums in a while. Those vibes are the reason I am permanently put off of all Bungie IPs. I would rather play the 343 Halos than ANY Destiny content; the only reason I had some fun with D1 is because I played with a couple of friends. And yet I still play MCC fairly regularly. I would say it’s better to not judge Marathon too harshly until you’ve played it yourself though (or at least seen a significant amount of gameplay).

          • Bungie themselves have said that Marathon is for a different audience.  The best hope for Destiny going forwards is Sony investment. I think Bungie needs investment to fully support 2 IPs. If Sony chooses to invest heavily in this IP, I would expect a big relaunch of D2, or D3. That’s the clearest way to signal to players that big changes are happening. We’ll find out what their plans are when the multi-year roadmap is released next year.
