Now, I want preferences this first and foremost by saying it’s not about difficulty. I’m just so over the need for over intensity for something that is supposed to be a shooting game. It is now become one where firearms (the MAIN weapon of a shooter) must be synergistic with your abilities. It has now become the secondary weapon to a good degree.
As a casual player, I can honestly say for me that it’s too much. It demands too much of my attention. It pulls me away from the engagement of the game, which is firearm to enemy combat driven gameplay. And I can honestly say that the majority of players in destiny have left because the game has moved away from being an actual sci-fi shooter with abilities as assisting to your combat style. To a game that requires over focus on button combinations rather than engaging with a story and the fight for that idea the main character undertakes on this journey.
If you get the player interested in the story with a focus on delivering concise interactions with the environment, you don’t need to overstimulate the player with heavy mechanics.
It’s simple. Tell a good story focus on good combat which gunplay is amazing for your team and that’s where you set yourselves aside from other games aside from the space theme.
