I want to share honest feedback about the current Renegade content from the perspective of a solo Destiny 2 player who also works and studies, and can’t spend endless hours on single activities.
1. Solo Ops Are Overtuned for Single Players
Many of the new solo missions feel scaled for two people rather than one. Enemy health is extremely high, ability uptime is low, and champion density makes encounters feel unfair instead of challenging.
For solo players, the balance feels punishing instead of engaging.
2. Barrier Champion Design Is Too Restrictive
This season heavily pushes Anti-Barrier Hand Cannons, which feel weak against high-health enemies. Relying on one weapon type limits build creativity and makes some encounters almost impossible.
Yes, there are intrinsic Anti-Barrier weapons like Arbalest and Wish-Ender, but the seasonal design still funnels players into one narrow option. Champions should expand weapon variety, not restrict it.
3. Mission 33 Is Far Too Long and Not Solo-Friendly
Mission 33 takes well beyond 60 minutes for an average player — many of us need 1.5 to 2+ hours, especially solo.
Most Destiny players have jobs, school, families, and limited free time, so spending a large part of a day on a single mission simply isn’t practical.
There are also too many puzzle-heavy mechanics for a primarily shooting-focused game. These puzzles slow down the pacing and make the mission feel more like tedious busywork than enjoyable story content.
A long mission is fine, but:
it should respect players’ time
it should include more checkpoints
it shouldn’t be overloaded with puzzle segments
it should be better balanced for solo play
Right now, Mission 33 does not meet those expectations.
4. Seasonal Exotic Feels Underpowered
The seasonal exotic weapon feels slow, inconsistent, and under-tuned. Its perks don’t synergize well, and its damage doesn’t justify using it over older, better options. Seasonal exotics should feel exciting — not disappointing.
Summary
Renegade has potential, but several elements make the experience frustrating for solo players with limited time:
Overtuned solo missions
Restrictive champion counter options
Overly long and puzzle-heavy Mission 33
Underwhelming seasonal exotic
Please consider adjusting difficulty, improving weapon variety for champions, reducing puzzle overload, and making missions more respectful of players’ time.
Thank you for reading.

4 RisposteWell I'm running Kepler content at the moment on Mythic level as a solo player, which means that although my power level is 534, Mythic level is set at only 200, so I should be literally running through Kepler in record time without any chance of being taken down. But OH NO, Bungie don't like players feeling powerful after all the thousands of hours we spend levelling up, so I'm capped at 200 while enemies are 240. What is the actual point of any sort of power level? If we were level 1 million, the enemies would be set at 1 million and 40. So what is the point of a power number that means absolutely nothing?

I agree that some champions mods feel somewhat restrictive.

Modificato da Sarus-X: 12/9/2025 8:35:49 PMPersonally, I just don't like arbitrary modifiers buffing enemy damage on top of power deficits. I'm fine with races having them, and I'm fine with a challenge mode having them, but general difficulties should not force players into being underpowered in every activity. I understand there must be challenge, but what's the point of getting better gear if the deficits just force you to be more and more underpower. You're effectively weaker at 500 than you are at 300 and it makes no sense to me. As for the barry bois, we have anti-barrier snipers too, and the heavy sniper is easy to get and one-shots barrier's shields even on ultimate. Just break the shield and reload, then swap to something else for a few seconds, then prepare to break the shield again. Don't spam it. If there are a lot of enemies, you're better off ignoring the champs until enough enemies are dead to focus them. If they rush you, you may have to deal with them quickly. I only had a little trouble with them on Ultimate, and that's entirely because I had a -50 deficit of my own dumb choice lol. I'd like if champions weren't nearly impossible to kill on harder difficulties without the mods, but Bungie will likely never make such changes. Edit: I also don't think we need 6+ difficulties. 3 should be enough with Grandmaster being a seperate thing like it used to be.

1 RispondiModificato da Axolotl_Roadkill: 12/9/2025 7:38:54 PMI played solo ops today and didn't notice any difference. Fire & Ice doesn't have any darkness zones so dying doesn't reset your progress. If for some reason you have to abort getting to the first arena shouldn't take you longer than 15 mins. You should know the way by now. Going in blind the first time always takes much longer, especially when the exits are well-hidden and you need to figure out the mechanics. D2 has always had puzzles. So you either free up some time to figure out things by yourself or follow a guide.

10 RisposteModificato da DOCTORWHO-LEGACY: 12/10/2025 4:31:19 AM1. I'm a solo player. And I total disagree with the solo ops. I have zero problem. I have limited time also. If anything they made this kind. None of the solo ops feels like it needs 2 players to do. I'd say u need a better build. 2.. in terms of Ur "Barrier" they rotate weapons on which champions they r each season or dlc. So no, Ur comment ain't valid when they literally do that. 3. Soloed that mission on normal didn't have too much a problem. If Ur concerned about legendary cause of the exotic gear piece, then don't bother, U can get it for 4k credits next to aunor or it can drop in lawless frontier, I got it from doing a key card today. 4. Considering the seasonal exotic would mostly be useful to heal allies. That may not be Ur right choice for U. I don't even use it Overall, majority of Ur points is more Ur problem. As I said, I'm a solo player since year 2 really of destiny 2. It's not harsh on the solo player at all. U literally have freedom to choose what to do at Ur preference. Renegades campaign isn't really that hard. They had harder ones.

4 RisposteYour build is the problem. Either you don’t understand how to build effectively or you haven’t looked up any builds. There are plenty out there that you can look up and be good with. Running double primaries (especially the weapons you choose) and a bad sword is hurting you a lot. Also as others have pointed out, you have 2-3 different ways to deal with barrier champs in your build currently without needing a mod. If you make a better build and use better weapons you won’t struggle with any of the content you mentioned

Well said agree with most of it

I tried the Grandmaster Alert in the Fire Team Ops as a Solo. (The one with the new Horror's Least) The crap mobs were bullet sponges! I stunned a Champ with the light saber throw then went to attack it melee style. Seemed tanky AF. Then I died. So I just left it and tried the Fire team Alert playlist - a cakewalk but crap loot and went on a bit.

6 RisposteAre you a solo player by choice or because of limited gaming time issues? Either way, I'm down to help with whatever man. I'm not max level but I hold my own and am willing to help with whatever.

If nothing else, there should be checkpoints. -
4 RisposteModificato da Howiepenguin: 12/9/2025 9:41:30 PMDon't let the sycophants tell you otherwise how you should play the game. They are too far gone to give actual advice. They just know how to downplay your concerns. Your concerns are valid and Bungie should take to heart what you are saying as this is valid feedback and anyone saying otherwise is either a sycophant, addicted to the game, or hates seeing negative feedback about a game they are so invested into that they can't see the forest for the trees. Edit: grammar

3 RisposteAin’t no way you’re complaining about solo ops! They are so so so easy everything absolutely falls over

5 RisposteModificato da Technician: 12/9/2025 9:47:47 PMGoing to pick apart most of this post. First Solo missions/running activities solo feel the exact same as they felt in EOF. The builds I used in solo ops grinding and activities i played solo didn't seem to be affected what so ever. The only "Hard" solo activities out right now would be solo final room of Fire and Ice in the campaign specifically and the new solo ops mission (with a movement loadout), the moment I took an actual heavy weapon it was a lot easier to do because my builds focused on CC than precision boss DPS. Other than that the solo experience is the same as it was in EOF. Second we just had a whole expansion where we had the best weapons in the game being anti barrier (Mint Retro/New Malpias) of course barrier champs feel worse to fight now since we don't have a weapon that can nuke it in 2 seconds. As another comment suggested, we still have Barrier sniper which you can use on them or if you feel "Restricted" in your loadout with using either a Hand cannon or Sniper, you have access to Radiant which gives anti barrier to ANY GUN that doesn't have a intrinsic champ stun on it. Champs shouldn't be something that you can roll over with no questions asked, they should be an obstacle to over come and plan around. Which is the WHOLE POINT OF THE ENEMY. Third, Assuming that Mission 33 was the Fire and Ice mission from the Campaign. The mission was fairly quick, I did mine solo and it took me like ~45 mins, 20 of those minutes spent on the last room because the boss kept killing me so quickly. That was the hardest part of the mission by far but the rest was fairly quick for an exotic mission. The biggest issue I have with your 3rd point is the part where you say: "There are also too many puzzle-heavy mechanics for a primarily shooting-focused game", I audibly laughed in my car waiting for it to heat up to drive home. Like are we playing the same game? Destiny 2 is a game with mechanics everywhere, look at Raids, Dungeons, Exotic Missions, Arena Ops, Fireteam ops, etc. All of these have a mechanic of some kind which is what makes destiny fun. If you want a activity to just kill adds, Solo ops is right there in the portal but you'll find out quickly that the game will get boring really quickly because mechanics make the game more interactive in the end. Finally, I think bungie does respect our time now more than before. Solo missions take on average 7-10 mins, Fireteam ops can be slightly longer at the 12-15 min mark, Pin ops can be pretty long (looking at Coil) but usually sit at the 16-23 min mark. Arena ops I'm not too familiar with but had the same feel of something between fireteam and Pin ops. The longer activities are the raids and Dungeons but that's really about it. And the Light level grinding is better than it ever was, in these last few months bungie has really improved the path of getting higher light levels. Overall, I disagree with your post (especially your 3rd point). The path of the solo player is supposed to be harder the only way to make it easier is to adapt. We all have lives to live outside of this game sometimes I have time to sink into it sometimes I don't and that's fine. Play when you can to get better and i promise you will. Edit: Grammar

2 RisposteModificato da Hwoarang45: 12/10/2025 2:12:34 AMSolo these days, had full time job, parenting responsibility, house chores, martial art class to teach, and i can still made limited gaming time, most of your complains are down to skill issues honestly. Which is normal, just like any games, play more train more, u will get good, its suppose to be challenging, if everything is easy hand holding, then it would kill the game entirely. Puzzles are part of the charm of destiny since day 1, its barely any these days imho, i wish for more, it force u to use your brain to solves simple mechanics than just a brain dead shoot anything that moves, heck even new doom has puzzles these days. Game difficulty are fine, its far too easy if u ask me, im coming from old GM days, these are nothing, u can solo everything now with a meta builds. Last time solo GM level activities is only reserved for god tier players. Overall i feel you are not looking for games like destiny to fill your limited time, if u cant fork out 1 gaming hour a day, u need lighter games like mobile or portable arcade games perhaps to fit your needs. You can try old classic doom shooters , Wolfenstein etc ? heck even those the sequels all has some puzzles and has harder difficulties level. Maybe battlefield or call of duty on easy settings?

outside champion mods is all SITS , remember SITS is no good for the game
-
Last mission is a cake walk, just save super for boss dps and use the new sword from heliostat or a sword with attrition orbs+siphon mod
-
Gotta be so real with you dude this is such a skill issue. If you think champions are restrictive now I doubt you played when you had to use armor mod energy on your grips just to deal with one type of champion. We have so many intrinsic ways to deal with champions most of which are super easy to obtain and have a lot of up time through sub classes or exotic armor choices. Barriers specifically, Radiant, unraveling rounds, and volatile rounds. You literally have a spirit of gyrfalcon class item on your hunter. turning invisible immediately makes your void weapons anti barrier. You could also put on acrobats doge which got buffed and gives you radiant, you also have facet of dawn, powered melee damage gives you radiant, now all your weapons are barrier given you don't have a specific champion mod equipped for that weapon class. with prismatic sub classes you can pretty much deal with every champ type with out selecting an artifact mod if you have a decent build. I agree, mission 33 was annoying doing it blind, but watch a guide and it is an easy 15-20 minutes.
-
7 RisposteAnd just how are Bungie able to know what players are upto in their day-to-day lives? They don't. It's up to the palyers to make the time if they so wish. It's not hard.
-
If you’re struggling in solo ops, drop the difficulty. Those activities are as short as three minutes long and far from being overturned.
-
What's Mission 33?
-
Hand canons (primary ammo) are trash. Legendary bows are trash. The lightsaber is barrier. Im gonna probably just use Wishender if I can in endgame. If not, Icebreaker.
-
I agree Mission 33 is too long, need a halfway checkpoint at least.
