after dealing consistant damage for over .5 seconds you get a stack of damage resistance, 1st stack being 10% DR, 2nd stack being 15%, and 3rd stack being 30% DR, both in PVE and PVP, this will further encourage you to use your auto rifles for dealing consistent damage and being rewarded for it, making the exotic chest armor less of a gimmick and more of a strong type that can work in grandmaster nightfalls.
