I just played a match of comp that was the first match of my promotion series. One of my teammates left the match after the first round, thus the competitive ranking protection kicked in. When I got to orbit, the game said I was in promotion series and I had 0W-1L because I lost the match I'd just played. I won the next match, and it counted as a win, and the protected match was my only loss so far today, so I know that it wasn't counting another match as the loss. It doesn't make sense to count that as a loss for promotion series when the ranking protection was active. If anything, it should reset the promotion series or count it as a draw.
