At least remove gambit and recycle the maps into crucible maps. Recycling content is your go-to anyway...

Not even. Just let them suffer for their poor decisions and neglect to a point where they wont forget until its all newer-ish people that will eventually have to be taught the same lesson again because business and econmic amnesia. They need to be on the brink of losing their everything. Literally. Its the only way things change nowadays.
