Have you tried other names you would be ok with using within Destiny to see if they work? They've been quietly updating the filter and its been catching people out with it saying [settings saved] and not changing, or just flat out not doing anything.

I used my gamertag thats associated to my xbox account.. it even recommended it. Yet it wouldnt work.

Your name might be hitting the filter because it is fairly similar/is a real name which isn't allowed under the naming policy.

Yeah it can get annoying since there isn't a exhaustive list but that would also help people get around it. Glad to see you've managed to find a name that works though
