• I’m not really sure what I would pick out of the ones on this list. I find all of them fascinating. Personally I found the Persians to be rather interesting and they had a pretty cool system of roads that allowed for quick communication. Outside of this list I’m really not sure I could just pick a single favorite. However I do love learning about ancient Sumer and it’s city-states particularly Uruk, the home of the mythic King Gilgamesh. I find there culture to be really interesting as well as their architecture and influence they had on more popular civilizations that would follow them such as Babylon, Greece, and Rome.

    • Since gender deterioration is a prequel to every “great” civilization dying, I’m going to pick this one. Since most of you aren’t smart enough to know that. It’s ok. Now you do. You’re welcome.

      • Pax romana was so revolutionary, that i'd have to go Roman. Imagine being able to travel from place to place on an actual road with relatuve safety thanks to the good ol' roman military. And, a lot of Roman architecture had more practical uses, like the famous aqueducts and the Coliseum was used as a stadium where people filled the seats. Most ancient empires' great works of architecture were usually just religious temples, where only the god-priest-zealot dudes could go. I just find Rome to be the least ooga-chaka of the ancient civilizations, probably because it came later than most.

        • From this list, I’d have to say Roman, but the Celts and Vikings are very interesting, too! I’m not really into their religions, but the stories and learning about how they did things are very interesting. List of partially related nerd facts:
Since we’re talkin’ ancient stuff, can I list some really cool old things about Austria? (Not Australia. It’s a country neighboring Germany.) The Vienna Zoo is the oldest zoo in the world, founded in 1752. Of course, gotta mention the Vienna Boys Choir founded late in the 15th century. Those kids are talented! The Austrian flag is the second oldest national flag in the world, being adopted sometime in the 13th century but in use during the 12th century. St. Peter’s is the oldest restaurant in the world. There are records of St. Peter’s being mentioned as far back as 803 AD! Unfortunately, it doesn’t hold the record for being the oldest continuously running restaurant. (That title belongs to some restaurant in Spain.) They had to shut down when Napoleon rose in power. But guess what? They came back and are still in business today! And, last but definitely not least, the salt mines of Hallstatt. Those mines have been producing salt for 7,000 years! Salt is still being produced, and some tunnels go as deep as 200 meters. Austria is a neat country :P
• Of this list I'd have to say Greece or Rome, maybe a tie between the two. I would say Celts as well, but most of the culture we know about them these days comes from more recent times than "ancient".

Mongolian empire. Apparently the first word I said is censored. Oops. Oh, and the Norse. They enchanted their weapons with the ashes of their ancestors and it worked! They made rudimentary steel.

i don't know anything really, about ancient cultures, but greek seems to be the most civilized in an age with plenty of room for discovery and invention btw, african civilizations get overlooked a whole lot, im pretty sure the richest man to ever live ruled there outside of this poll id choose japanese cuz I'm a weeb. idk if this counts but native american tribes would have been a good life.

                          • Do I really have to have a favorite? I've never put any thought toward this before. Now that I am, all I can think of is though we have remnants and structures remaining from all of these ancient people, most all of them were brutal butchers of those they overtook, and even many times to their own people. I don't know how I feel about that. As once being an architecture student, I learned about all the ancient building structures, and the beauty of them. That said, they were all mostly built by slave labor. That kind of takes some of the luster out of it, despite the fact that these buildings have lasted thousands of years.
