Is water wet?

After constant argumentation and debates, we have reached the following conclusion: The controversial question read as, “is water wet?” has been argued by two different parties using two different definitions. During this convention, both parties agreed to utilize one definition stating, “moistened, covered, or soaked with water or some other liquid”. This definition supports an adjectival theme against its nounal counterpart. After a complete evaluation of the stipulatory definition, we have determined that water, is indeed, not wet. To evaluate this definition, it is broken into parts: **Moistened** The meaning of the word “moistened” is, “to make something slightly wet or to become slightly wet”. Firstly, in order to make something wet, that “something” should have been dried in the first place. As common sense would tell us, water cannot be dried, so therefore, water cannot be moistened. **Covered** When water molecules are plentiful in number, it is safe to assume they would be covering each other. In theory, if one of these molecules is isolated, it can be attached to a surface, making said surface wet. However, since this molecule is not covered by other water molecules, it cannot be wet. The decision on this division is split due to difference in circumstance. **Soaked** The definition of soaked is, “to make or allow (something) to become thoroughly wet by immersing it in liquid”. Because a water molecule cannot be immersed in another water molecule, water cannot be soaked in water. For example, pouring a glass of water into another glass of water would only increase the molecules of water in the cup and consequently, increase the amount of water inside the cup. The same cannot be said for a solid surface such as a piece of cloth. Should a cup of water be poured into a piece of cloth, these water molecules would be attached to the cloth causing it to become soaked. The term “soaked” cannot be applied to the liquid state. In view of the fact that water has failed to correlate with the definition of “wet” stated above, water cannot be described as wet.
