A Thought About How Bungie Can Reign in Lord of Wolves a Bit More, Including Reducing the Body-Shot Damage
So, Lord of Wolves is still annoying, right? In Destiny 1, Lord of Wolves had a recoil issue that prevented it from being meta. I think it had more left recoil than in Destiny 2, where it mainly just recoils up. The hitbox in Destiny 1 was also a little bit smaller, meaning you actually had to aim a bit more.
But I had another thought. How about reducing the body-shot damage of the weapon? Even after the nerfs to shotguns in Destiny 1 that removed precision damage from a lot of shotguns, the Chaperone and Lord of Wolves still had the ability to deal precision damage.
More focus could be put in the precision aspect and it could turn into a weapon where it could be more rewarding to aim for the head instead of just spraying in the general direction of the enemy and killing them every time. And I still see it being pretty forgiving. In Chaperone's case, you shoot one shot to the head and that's all it takes to kill the enemy or miss and waste a full shot. In Lord of Wolves case, it's still a burst-fire weapon that fires fast. You can miss a couple of shots and still have the chance to take a lot of the enemy's health away.
I still think more can be done to the weapon. In Destiny 2, it has always been stronger in PvP than it ever was in Destiny 1. It was always good in PvE though. Used to be one of my favorite exotics.
...Also in Destiny 1, Lord of Wolves had no damage falloff. The bullets just disappeared after a certain distance. For balance sake, probably don't bring this feature back to the gun. I'm just saying that it was a thing.
