Is this an error in the 3D model or intentional design?
I'm wondering if the large intakes on the top of the exotic ship SCRAP CF-717-91 are supposed to be connected to the main body in such a way that they only touch along four curved edges in a seemingly impossible manner. Or are they supposed to be flush with the main body? Or if it is supposed to be raised higher, should the beam separating the intake and the body be fully flush with both?

I'd say it was a mistake. I mean they had that ship in D1 that simply didn't have a bottom, it was just blank.
