It'll be tons of fun not progressing past the first encounter after 5 hours then having people quit, then waiting another hour for someone to join.
Not saying there shouldn't be optional matchmaking.
. Just saying that it would never get used

It would get used a lot because there would be far less time with matchmaking than trying to find a group willing to accept an inexperienced player. Also, experience is better than just watching videos.
