Just archons forge survival. None of that dumb poe mini objective shit, just straight up waves of increasing difficulty and maybe a boss here and there. If they scaled the loot drops right (make it worth it) I'd be so down, give flawless pve gear for people who survive for like 3 hours or somethin. Survive 50 rounds in a row to get "badass pve gun" (adept). Recommended light 400. Bungie do it.
