Are these really a bad thing or are they useful? I can't tell from all the posts.

They buff your XP so they are good. I don't know much about them but I have 2 of them and my XP is going up pretty quick. I imagine it has something to do with rise of iron collect all 5 and get a special quest or something like that. But I'm not sure all I know is double XP is fine by me
