Sawyer tapped his smoke and let crumbs of smoldering ash fall to the dry earth, letting it slip between huge seams that lined the ground.
"You've been around enough and there's not many places left to go. Seen millions of men die, good and bad, killed cruel dictators and sick, greedy entrepreneurs. Saw my home planet be nothing but ruin and go to an earth where everything was beyond decay already, ruled by cutthroat androids from a destroyed culture. Explored a whole galaxy worth of stars and adventures. Manned the largest ship in creation, killed a vessel of the same size by the skin of my teeth. Purged a race and destroyed a dimension. When you've exhausted everything you can do you come to the place were legends are forged. That's why I'm at the Dojo. Why are you here, then?"

"I just showed up as an amorphous blob and they let me in. No reason for coming."

Sawyer chuckled. "Lone drifter, I can toast to that. You got a name, stranger?"

"Not really... The Deity calls me Big S, though."

Sawyer nods. "Well, nice to meet you S. I'm Aaron Sawyer, Paladin." Sawyer extends a hand and smiles.

[b]Big S shakes his hand.[/b] "Paladin? As in Brotherhood of Steel, or as in medieval?"

"Neither. My home planet, Prilion, had a program called the Paladin Order, a division of the High Empress' Godessguard. We were the most skilled mages in our land and our goal was to protect our land. Damn fine order, we were. Shame. None got out alive." Sawyer stared longingly into the sand, his eyes dilating as he spaced out.

"That's interesting... Wait. What do you mean none survived? Aren't you alive?"

"Not to them, I wasn't. Damn miracle I survived the destruction of Prillion. To my once closest comrades I'm a dead man walking." Sawyer chuckled slightly, but still continued to look forward into nothing blankly.

"That's... Bad."

Sawyer sighed and leaned back, letting the rotting driftwood creak under his mask. He frugally takes a drag from his cigar. "Got any stories to share yourself?"

"N-No..." [b]It's clear that it has quite a tale, but doesn't want to say anything.[/b]

Sawyer laughed and nudged the shoulder of the creature. "Come on. Nothing to be afraid of, man."
