His point is that he can't play with his friends who are better at pvp than him, because it puts him in a lobby where he is the worst player ever single game. When he solo queue's, sbmm works better for him, but he wants to play with his friends without getting stomped. Trust me I used to have the same opinion as you about sbmm, until I got a friend who isn't as good as I am in the crucible, and we really don't do much pvp together because of it. And playing with friends is really the best way to experience Destiny, even in the crucible.
