I suggest learning to close the gap with other handcannons. The vast majority of people it seems aren't really that great with The Last Word, so they take somewhere around 6 shots to kill you because they miss so much. Also, utilize the equipment that's available to you. I think too many people forget how helpful abilities are in this game, and they rely too much on their primaries.
