A question for evolutionists
Or evolutionary biologists, as most people call them. Yes, b8y title is b8y, shut the -blam!- up, I have a genuine question to ask:
What's the deal with mutations? Do we sometimes get random doodads or what-have-yous added to our bodies and then they're gone the next generation? I myself had an additional pair of canines growing from my upper gum and still bear the scars from their removal (I hope. Chicks dig scars). Would my genes be going 'Oh, that wasn't beneficial at all, let's try again in a few thousand years.'? And if they're random, what ensures successful ones will manifest themselves in future generations? Or is it because the process is so long that the less adapted are weeded out over hundreds or thousands or more generations?

Modificato da pValue2010: 6/3/2016 7:28:18 PMIf a mutation is benign as is yours - which has no influence on survival/reproduction - it may live on or it may be weeded out.. Based on several things I think, like whether or not your sperm even carry the gene after going through meiosis. If a mutation is beneficial, generally it will become more prevalent in a population over time as those people are more likely to survive and pass on the gene. And of course, the converse for a harmful mutation. Hence the phrase "survival of the fittest."
