Why do Americans want to increase their military budget?
It's already so astronomically high it's not even funny, and it's not like any world power is threatening America.
So why do so many people seem to want to raise it, are they just ignorant or am I missing something here.

It partly due to numerous government contracts getting approved without much scrutiny. When multi-billion dollar contracts get signed without even a second thought, then what you end up with is the budget we see today.
