I wasn't aware that they were in contention with each other. And I should correct you, spring theory is actually a tad vague, as it refers to multiple types of string theory. Superstring theory is more of what we're looking at now. I don't think it's correct, nor do I think the Big Bang theory is correct. I think the Big Bang theory is good, it works, but there will be improvements made in the future. I think superstring theory is, conceptually, where we need to be moving forwards, though lack of evidence of super symmetries or strings makes it a tad hard to discern as valid.
