This was when it originally happened. The recent speculation is that its not just plasma being released in these flares but there is also contention that how this was picked up may not be accurate because that means its traveling faster than light. http://www.jpl.nasa.gov/news/news.php?feature=4753

That's not coming out of the black hole, that's coming out of the gas flying around it.
