You don't have to put yourself in danger to use firebolt. With wombo you do.

That may be true for you but it is not a fact. Top tier players wont have that issue as often as average or above-average players.

The hell are you talking about? It is a fact. With a firebolt you can through it around a corner, completely safe, and damage the opponent. If you do that with wombo nothing will happen. With wombo you have to show yourself if you want to damage the enemy.

The playstyle vary and the tactics are different. Also if your at a corner and you know a warlock is there and STILL get tagged.. that.. is.. your.. fault.
