Why are people so upset about micro transactions?

Why? I don't understand, it's not pay to win and they pretty much benefit you in no way unless you want some bling dancin'. So I simply don't understand the problem with them. I think they should be putting the money from them towards new strikes or events that happen fairly often. But seriously why are people so upset about them?

  • It's more about their price. People bitched about the price of TTK but accepted it by paying for it. They then introduced MTs, at a high price, and people pay for it. $10 to keep track of your stats in a temporary event, and people paid for it. It's a very slippery slope, but now Bungie knows they can get away with ridiculously priced DLCs, so they're going to keep doing it. Now if you want to play the 'if you don't want to pay for it don't pay' card, just remember all of the people who decided to stick with year one, boycotting TTK. Now they don't get nightfalls, or dailies/weeklies, they have no use for legendary marks, and their crucible is crippled. Destiny is a fraction of the game they paid for and the rest of it is effectively held ransom, if they want to continue playing the game they paid for, they have to fork out further. This is the slope I was talking about. If Bungie decide to do another TTK-sized update and charge for it, it's going to be expensive, and it's going to lock out anyone, who choses not to pay, from content they had access to prior to the update. The purchasing of MTs isn't the issue, it's the accepting the outrageous prices.
